Supercell ASC7 AIRSOFT CLAYMORE

Introduction
The Aisoft Claymore by Supercell is a very cool airsoft accessory for airsofters. Ours came pack nice and tight with no room for anything to break. With the same dimensions as the real thing, it has a great size and easy to carry and deploy. This landmine has a good weight and even though it is mostly rubberized plastic is does feels substantial solid. It comes with a full manual and a CD so that you can watch how everything should be done on your computer or DVD player, very cool for those who do not like to read instructions! Also a nice bag is included with the claymore mine. Remark we do a review on the VERSION 2 landmine, a VERSION 3 landmine will hit the markets soon.

Operation
The mine is spring powered and does not require any gas or batteries to operate. It has very few moving parts and nothing to break or loose accept maybe the safety pin but you could easily make another and the one supplied with the claynmore comes with a bright red ribbon so it is hard to loose! On the same key ring as the safety pin it comes with a trip wire pin. You stick it in the top of the mine and can run out a wire or cord for your enemy's to step on. When someone trips over the wire, it activates the mine and then flies off with the cord. That's what's really nice, it doesn't stay connected to the mine, so when someone trips the trip wire, the whole mine doesn't go with it. It simply breaks free and the mine delivers its charge for the kill!

Loading
Before loading you need to close up the mine. The cloth launcher inside folds neatly and the clam shell outer box latches closed and your can then ad the safety pin. There is a small bb feeder hole on the outside of one side that your can pour bbs directly into the mine, mix in some baby powder for added effect and you are ready to go. Easy and convenient set-up if you ask me. Esspecially the baby powder gives a nice extra effect.

Firing
Firing is easy! You can fire this mine manually or with a trip wire. Remotely with a hardwire detonator wired directly to the landmine or my favorite with the wireless key! The wireless detonator comes pre configured to fire two land mines at once :). The remote seems to have a range of around 50' and with the wireless remote you can also set up the trip wire as a back up so even if you have to retreat, advance, or get eliminated, you can still eliminate the enemy!

Rate of Fire
Well, Rate of fire on a Claymore i usually 1 explosion per its lifetime, but not this one! It's 100% reusable, and takes less than a minute to reload and set up! It's a very easy procedure, and you can master after the first time you use it.

Performance
It holds 200+ Airsoft 6mm BBs. But by no means do you need to use that many, 5-50 cover perfectly. It will shoot Airsoft .20 g bbs over 60 feet!!! Its spread is a 30-45 degree radius. It makes a pretty neat/loud POP noise when it shoots open, and scares everyone, even when they know it's going to happen. We also advice to use B-grade BB's and not the more expensive BB's. You will have the same effect but with cheaper BB's.

Accuracy
It's a landmine! If you can't hit someone with 200 bb's with a hidden device, then you should just quit airsofting. It doesn't really have any accuracy except for everywhere in front of it! If you set it up right, it will get the job done, and it can take out an entire squad. 200 BB's can hit a lot of people!

This is a great fun airsoft toy and will make you the hit at your next airsoft scrimmage!

Rating
We give it a 9 out of 10!

Even don't forget to mention the functioning of the rifle, they opperate like there real steal counterpart thanks to the new generation electric controled gearbox. Please read along, this review will handle the SYSTEMA M16 A2/A3 from top till bottum...

    * 100 BB's

First Impression
Just WOW! You know those moments of overwelming impressions? This is such a WOW moment! I dare to say this SYSTEMA M16 PTW is really a next generation AEG. It surpassed all my expectations, everything seems to look perfect. Weight, size, color, solidity, usage, performance all far above average. SYSTEMA really did a good job on this one! Please read allong the review to see my impressions on this item.

Externals
First of all the externals are produced with a nice matt grey finish, very realistic! Not a plastic black look as most of the repica's have. The metal body, stock, barrel and mags are with the same finish. Even the selector switch, bolt release catch, front sight etc! I really can appreciate these perfect little details. Something you might expect from SYSTEMA; As reel as it get's. :)

The mags of the SYSTEMA M16 are good. The fit is perfect, the usage just fine and it feets the gun good. We had a long test period of over a month an we did not have ANY misfeed! Please remark that these mags do NOT fit into any other M16 airsoft brand. The feeding system is totally unique and a new design of SYSTEMA. This might be a problem with interchanging mags within your team, but fortunately the new system works at least properly without misfeeds. SYSTEMA supplies the M16's with 30 rounds low caps and 120 rounds mid caps. A proper loading tool is included into the M16 box, but I hope they will introduce a high cap of at least 300 rounds soon! Personally the hastle of the low and mid caps is not favourable for me. They want to make it as real as possible, but I am sure a lot of airsoft players will favor a high cap. Besides, the weight of the mags are impressive realistic! I compared them with TM and CA mags and you can pick out the SYSTEMA mag easily. Color, and weight are different, but size is nearly the same. You will definately notice the mags when wearing 4 or 6 of them into your tactical vest. Maybe I will open a mag in the future to see more of the insides.

The fire selector of the SYSTEMA M16 is really unique in the airsoft world. Most of the airsoft rifle's kinda "glide" into their position. You really need to guide the switch with your thumb into the right position. SYSTEMA's fire selector really "clicks" into the right position like the real steal variants are doing. This might seem an unimportant issue but delevers you more comfort during usage and adds again that little piece of realism to you rifle.

Internals
I think we have now come to the most interesting part of the new SYSTEMA M16 series. SYSTEMA developed a totally new designed electrically controlled split-up gearbox. A very impresive piece of engieneering which enables new features to airsoft replica models, like a more realistic thinner body and less maintenance. And offcourse the new drop-in cylinders which are really cool!

Upgrading and Downgrading
Thanks to the newly designed gearbox regulating the power of your airsoft rifle really has become a pleasure! SYSTEMA introduced a full-line of socalled "drop-in cylinder units" for the whole line of Professional Training Weapon Systems! Three different drop-in cylinder units are now availeble on the market. They includes the M90 cylinder unit ("stock" cylinder shipped with your PTWS), M110 cylinder unit (moderate upgrade for all-around performance), and M130 cylinder unit (high velocity upgrade when maximum engagement range is needed). It is ensured that no other internal modifications need to be done when switching a unit.

Lately they also released a MAX version after the gen 3 version. These include red M150 cylinders and are only usable with SYSTEMA PTW MAX variants. They opperate like all the other cylinder units. Beware, there are problems reported regarding the zinc teeth rack in the M90 cylinder unit. Most other units have a steel teeth rack already installed! When having problems with stripping teeth on a M90 cylinder unit, please replace the zinc teeth rack with the new steel piston rack.

The cylinder units will cost you an additional 195 USD! This is a bit more than you pay for a conventional M130 upgrade. This cylinder unit is all you need for an upgrade. Besides there is no other way to upgrade the gearbox. It is NOT compatible with other brands because of the unique design!

Their are currently some new upgrades available, most important are the upgrades from gen3 to a MAX version. The main difference are the higher torgue mortor and the new steel gears in the gearbox. SYSTEMA also developed a completely new barrel assembly set with a 6.04 precission barrel pre-installed! I think this precission barrel is really worth it, however it will cost you still around 200 USD.

There are also newly improved mags available. Some users had extensive problems with their mags, not feeding properly or otherwise. When having problems on your mags, refer to these new mags to solve your issues...

Usage
The SYSTEMA M16 has some new features which are unique in the airsoft world.

    * Electronically controlled gearbox
    * Real opperating of the gun
    * Easy to upgrade/downgrade gearbox
    * A system block when mag is empty
    * Burst firing mode!

Performance
Offcourse we did some FPS tests with the rifle. We used 0.20g Bioval BB's together with the M130 cylinder unit and offcourse the Chrony. Maybe we also need to mention that the PTW uses a standard 6.1 precission barrel. We did several shots and top speed was around the 400FPS. The lowest measured value was 378FPS. On average the gun will operate with this M130 cylinder installed around 385FPS. Remark that we did not need to modify the gearbox at all to use the M130 cylinder.

M90: 310-320fps
M110: 360-370fps
M130: 380-400fps
M150: 510-520fps

Movie
Additionally we would like to add this movie from Redwolf who made a nice impression of the SYSTEMA PTW. Enjoy!

Overall
Wrapping up, this is a gun you can only dream of. If you can afford these toys, be sure to get one!

SYSTEMA PTW Gearbox

Introduction
The SYSTEMA PTW gearbox is very unique and innovative. Many wonder how the SYSTEMA PTW works and how the new gearbox type looks like. So we have made a closeup on this planetary gearbox to show how it is made. This will provide you some details and insights on this great piece of mechanics. This is the way SYSTEMA puts it:

    Quote:

"Revolutionary implementation of the planetary gear box allowing the weapon to operate smoothly and reliably under high internal stress, while reducing the overall package dimension.

Compared with the conventional reduction mechanism with three shafts, the planetary gear has only two shafts, allowing for a more compact mechanism. The planetary gear, which originally had three gears, was redesigned to have four in order to provide higher durability for the thrust load when using a high-rate spring.

Due to this effort, we succeeded in reducing to the greatest possible limit the backlash caused by the gears biting each other, resulting in realizing the best in transmission efficiency.

    "

The gearbox installed in the lower receiver...

We start with a picture of the gearbox compared to a box with matches so you could understand how small it actually is.

As you can see the gearbox is just a little larger...

When opened you are able to see how compact and small everything is. This is the MAX gearbox from the PTW challange kit also named "do it yourself kit". This gearbox is practical the same to all PTW gearboxes out there. In total the gearbox includes 28 parts! Please find more information in the exploded views we included at the end of the review. This particular MAX gearbox is made to withstand a 160m/s spring and almost NO maintenence needed. Many new to SYSTEMA PTW ruin their gearbox by adding grease/lubricate because it looks dry. The problem is that the gears are so tight made together that thick lubricate would blow the gears or make it very hard to turn and blow the fuse/melt curcuitboards. So no further lubrication is needed, please be carefull with that!

Taking a closer look on the gears you would notice that this is really nothing like a regular Ver2 AEG gearbox.

Gearbox stripped down...

Operation
When looking from this angle I would try to explain the operation of the gearbox. To the left you got the curcuitboard EL-001 and got a switch for the trigger. It also got a photoswitch that check the position of the main gear so it would always return to normal position. The two holes in the main gear is for the photoswitch to see trough. Top left you got a white switch that is connected to the bolt catch. When the magazine is empty it press out the bolt catch and stop firing. When inserting a new full magazine you have to tell the electronics to restart so you could fire again and do this by pressing in the bolt catch that again press the switch. BTW!!.. The KUMI stamped in the gearbox is the name of the CEO in SYSTEMA :) Further not of any importance...

Right side of the gearbox...

On this side you can see the electronic controle of the semi/auto/burst with the selector switch. The EL-002 got two microswitches. When the selector is set to safe the selector arm is to the right with no contact to the switches. When set to semi it press down the first switch and tell the electronic to fire one and one bb. On auto/burst the arm press down both switches and telll the circuit to do auto or burst after what type of EL-001 you got. If you want to lock to semi only you could either restrict the arm only to go to the first switch or you could remove the cable to switch two.

Left side of the gearbox...

On top of the gearbox is a hole where the firmnes of the selector is adjusted. First there is a bearing ball laying on the selector switch. the selector switch got 3 dents on it where the ball would press down in for each selected Safe/Semi/Auto. You adjust how hard the selector should feel by adjusting the screw on to the spring that press down the ball. A nice function to set the firmnes of the selector to your own preferences!

Details on the selector switch...

TM Ak47

Intro
Ever since I have been into Airsoft, I have always wanted an AK-47. It is a gun of every single major war in the last 50 years, featured in nearly every action movie, and just looks cool. When I finally moved from springer guns to AEG’s, the AK-47 was my natural choice for a first gun. I had heard it was a sturdy gun, just like the real steel, shot fairly accurate for a stock gun, and had a nice high capacity clip.

First Impressions
When you hold the AK-47, you feel a nice solid gun. There is absolutely no body flex to speak of. The gun has a high metal content, and the fake wood is simulated very well. On the full stock version, the version tested for this review, the large battery is held in the butt stock. There is plenty of room in there for an 8.4v battery, but do not expect to fit any 9.6v battery over 1600mAh in it.

There are not many trademarks to speak of, but that is because there have been so many manufacturers of the AK-47 over the last half century, that even half of them don’t have trademarks. There is, however, writing is Russian on the gun. On the selector switch, the different firing modes are written in the Cyrillic alphabet.

Weighing in at around 5lbs., this is a fairly heavy assault rifle. The length is very long at 875mm, not a CQB weapon at all. The size comparison between it and a P90 can be seen in the figure.

The Hop-Up is the easiest to adjust in any AEG I have ever seen. You simply pull back on the dust cover, and move a slide. Pull it back if you want it to go up, push it forward if you want less hop-up effect.

Accuracy
For the accuracy portion of the review I used Airsoft elite .20g bb’s and a Sanyo 8.4v 1500mah Battery that has been fully charged.

The first test I wanted to see how it grouped with single fire mode. As you can see in fig. 6 that the accuracy is ok, not the best but not too bad either. The grouping turned out to be just about 1.2 inches on average, not bad at all.

On the figure you can see the results of full auto fire of the AK-47. The grouping is still not bad and it even has a shot in the very middle.  Overall I find the accuracy of the AK-47 very good, very pleasing, and compared to other Guns, it’s above average.

Power
Like all Tokyo Marui AEG’s they all seem to have the same fps no matter what the model because they all use the same stock internals. The AK-47 is no exception. As you can see in the picture, the average fps I got was 268, normal for most AEG’s. Please note that Marcus’ AK-47 is almost 2 years old, and to maintain this power in such a long period of time is astonishing.

Conclusion
Overall, the Tokyo Marui AK-47 is a great gun for beginner and veteran alike. I have had my AK-47 for about two years completely stock, and not a single thing has gone wrong with it. If that is not durable, then I do not know what is. There are not as many accessories for the AK-47 compared to other guns, but there are still a few. You can get, for instance, an RIS, scope mount and double magazine holders for it, but if you want a highly accessorized gun that has a ton of after market parts, then get an M4A1-RIS. If you want a gun that is durable, has a fast rate of fire, not a run of the mill at many fields, and with a very high capacity clip (600 rounds), then the AK-47 is the gun for you.  I will write a follow-up when I get the gun upgraded, and perform the same tests. Until then, good luck on the field.

UPDATE:Here a little update from Maxim Baele, which reports that he is succesfully using a 9.6V battery pack in the TM AK47. This makes the replica a lot more attractive. He is using a medium-type 9.6v 2200Mah from Begadi. He did minor change on the batteries and they fitted perfect. So take this into consideration guys!
